Massage is probably one of the most popular forms of health activity today. Massage offers the experience of touch, movement, and energy, qualities that are associated with the well-being of the whole person.
The physical and psychological benefits of massage have been recognized and valued since ancient times. Painful nerves are soothed by the monotone of smooth stroking, tension in the chest, shoulders and abdomen can be eliminated to permit full breathing, and the stress responses that impede digestion can be relieved. Unexpressed emotions are often contained in hyper tense muscles. The movements of massage provide a counter pressure that tends to dissipate tension, freeing it to be converted into energy.
As a Nationally Certified and Maryland State Licensed Massage Therapist, my goals will be to achieve these physical and psychological benefits by using Swedish, Deep Tissue or Myofascial massage. After discussing your aches and pains, we may choose to use Cranio-Sacral, Lymphatic Drainage, or Energy work.
